Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) Support

Attendants assist clients with routine personal care tasks essential for daily functioning, including:

  • Bathing, grooming, and hygiene support

  • Dressing and undressing

  • Toileting assistance & incontinence care

  • Transfer assistance (bed, chair, wheelchair, toilet, etc.)

  • Ambulation assistance

  • Feeding assistance

  • Support with mobility devices

Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADLs)

Cleaning the Table

Tasks that support independent living and home functioning, including:

  • Light housekeeping

  • Laundry and linen care

  • Meal planning and preparation

  • Grocery shopping and errands

  • Assistance with managing appointments

  • Organization and routine household tasks

  • Escort to appointments (nonmedical)

Companion and Social Support Services

Child Studying Together

To enhance emotional well-being and reduce social isolation, Attendants provide:

  • Conversation and companionship

  • Recreational and social activities

  • Reading assistance and mental stimulation

  • Safety supervision and observation

  • Assistance with communication and phone use

Environmental & Safety Support

Organized Closet Space

Ensuring a safe living environment consistent with client needs:

  • Fall prevention support

  • Monitoring for unsafe conditions

  • Light home safety tasks within PAS scope

  • Observational reporting of changes in client condition

Client Advocacy & Communication

Executive Making a Phone Call

Attendants support client independence and communication by:

  • Reporting changes in condition to supervisor

  • Following the care plan and client preferences

  • Protecting client rights, dignity, and privacy

  • Supporting grievance procedures

  • Encouraging involvement in decision-making

Temporary Respite Assistance

Short-term relief for primary caregivers, including:

  • In-home support to ensure client safety and comfort

  • Assistance with daily living activities

Additional Support Services Based on Client Need

Baby Eating Food

Depending on the care plan and regulatory guidelines, PAS may also include:

  • Assistance with home exercise programs

  • Observation for signs of illness or distress

  • Reminders (medication, hydration, appointments)
